FERRON FLY FISHING

FLY FISHING WITH FRIENDS

One of the great pleasures in life is fly fishing with Spike, along with family or friends. Last week my family was busy so Spike and I decided to go fly fishing with my two favorite fishing buddies. Unfortunately, both of them were also busy, so we ended up getting stuck with Newbee and Oil Can as fishing companions.

Sunday morning at Ferron Res.

Trout on.

Tight line as rainbow comes to surface.

Shaking it off.

Spike getting ready to clean his trout.

Fat rainbow.

Spike looking things over.

Retrieving a fish after a successful dive.

Almost to shore.

Another one for Spike's basket.

Oil is hooked up.

Spike swimming to help Oil land his cutthroat.

Spike with his eye on the prize.

Newbee and Voo with Sunday breakfast.

Oil posing with Spike's fish.

Spike nails another one.

And another one.

Catch of the day.

We had three really good sessions of fly fishing over the weekend and turned everything back except for a few for breakfast. Although Newbee and Oil Can were not my first choices as fishing buddies, they both did very well with their fly rods and turned out to be, at least, marginally tolerable. We were joined Friday night by the Wolf and his spandexed mountain bike mouseketeers consisting of Costanza and Wily Riley. Wolf cooked an excellent steak supper for us along with an incredable dutch oven cobbler desert. We were joined for supper by Sherriff Buchanan and Deputy Sherrif Captain Braithwaite. A good time was had by all.

I think Spike is the smartest dog I have ever seen. Is there another dog in the world who retrieves fish? Only spike, and he is so good to help with your fishing friends.
Photos of Ferron so pretty, makes me want to be there, but not to fish! Not to bike! Maybe to just sit, visit and enjoy family.
