Could I exchange my $20 gift certificate at Candies on Main to Jensen's Department Store (also on Main)? I put a lot into this and now need to pay off my partner in crime-- genius Bill Payne. He doesn't want ice cream.

Dear j.lo,
Yes, you may exchange your $20 gift certificate at Candies On Main for a gift certificate at Jensen's Department Store. However, as you know, Candies On Main is on the East side of Main Street. Jensen's is on the West side. The exchange rate on US currency currently favors the East side. The bottom line is that your gift certificate will only be worth $19.50 at Jensen's.

AFTER all the personal sacrifices I have made (turned down dinner dates from groom contenders so I could work on the quiz)-- after the jobs I lost (because I was so strung out from the quiz-- Please see comment 7 on previous post)-- after I am left alone and in shambles and have had to sign up for rehab (please see comment 7 on previous post)-- KICK IN THE FIFTY DAMNED CENTS!

j.LOW,
Nothing would make me feel better than awarding you the full value of the Candies On Main gift certificate towards a certificate at Jensen's. However, rules are rules. If I open the door for you then everyone else is soon to follow. I cannot compomise the integrity of the quiz for you or anybody else. I have read all your comments and I feel your pain. In order to complete the quiz with the incredibly high score that you obtained, you relapsed into the world of drugs and alcholl that defined your younger life for so many years. Maybe I can get Cousin Bob to allow you some kind of discount which would ultimately make you certificate worth the full $20. That is the best I can do and still keep a clear conscience.

Dear Voo-

I LOVE this version of the quiz!!! That is, WITH the answers. GREAT theme. So many incredible stories hinted at, evoked. I'm inspired. To spend the evening with a glass of wine, on Wikipedia. Congrats to Joyce. You rock! And also to my wonky neighbors (whose baby is named Natalie, but don't sweat the details). To think fellow Vermonters from right here at Fort Ethan Allen placed second! It just makes my spirit sing.
