RED SOX FAN OF THE WEEK
Kelly AKA Carrot Cake, Chow Bait, Hop Sing, Hoppy, Slammer, and Prison Bitch has been a life long friend of mine and a long time Red Sox fan. He even has a grandson named Boston. About a year ago, Hoppy acquired another nick name .... Evil Knievel. Hop had a very unfortunate accident on his four wheeler while driving down Ephraim Canyon. The result was a broken neck, broken back, broken ribs, 200 stitches in his head, messed up hair, and a totally smashed boulder where his head hit. Anybody with a normal head would not have made it. After considerable time in intensive care, numerous surgeries, and grueling rehab, Hop is on the mend. Unfortunately, his looks have not improved but his physical condition has just about returned to normal. His loving wife and family have been incredible in helping him through this daunting ordeal. Without them he might still be flat on his back. Through out it all, Hoppy never lost his sense of humor, concern for others, or desire to regain his health. If you are ever in Ephraim, Utah, stop by the Sno Cap Bowling Lanes and Restaurant where Hoppy is the owner manager and tell him hello . He is an an inspiration to all who know him and the best friend anybody could ever have............... voo,

MILO TAKES ON FERRON
Last weekend I had the privledge of spending some time at the cabin with Wolf, his wife, Little Martha, his daughter Mini Martha, His son in law Milo, and his new granddaughter Mona Lisa AKA Teeny Weeny Martha. We really had a good time. The food was excellent as was the fishing. Milo is kind of a new comer to fishing and mountain life but did very well....... for the most part.

Spike spotting fish for Milo....
Spike sees one and directs Milo where to put his lure.....
Milo tangles his line around the motor and Spike watches the fish swim away.....
Wolf catches a nice rainbow and Milo attempts to net it, but much like his golf swing, he slices the net away from the fish and nets something else entirely..

Finally the Wolf decided to take a photo of his next fish before Milo could get at it..

Milo makes a perfect cast, nails a big Brooke trout, but has trouble pulling it in. Thusly, Spike had to swim out and retrieve it for him.
In the mean time.........

Wolf lands a nice one...
Spike wants it, but like all the other catches, it is released back into the lake....
Milo is hooked up again and decides to pose for a photo............
(More problems with Milo)
This time he doesn't wait for Spike, but decides to "horse" it in.......
I let Milo use my $600 Loomis rod and $650 Bauer reel. I also supplied him with 23 hand tied flies. At the end of our evening of fishing this is what his reel looked like and all of the flies were lost.....
Actually Milo did very well and I look forward to fishing with him again........ in about 11 years.

I can't help but express my annoyance with the fact that Wolf insisted Milo cook our breakfast hot cakes. This is something that I normally do, and quite frankly, do quite well. I grew very frustrated in watching Milo butcher, what could have been, the highlight of our breakfast.
He started off using way to much batter and then he put unnecessary ingredients into it causing it to be lumpy and runny at the same time. The hot cake pan is designed to hold four evenly sized hot cakes but as you can see above Milo was cooking them only one at a time. When he tried to cook more than one they were very uneven and he never did figure out how to put four on the griddle at once.
Wolf and Little Martha did an excellent job in cooking the eggs, bacon, and some delicious homemade scones. Their portion of the breakfast was all ready at the same time for all of us to eat. Where were the hot cakes? Milo was still struggling to finish his first one.
As you can see there was very much batter left over. This is not a good thing. It is wasteful, causes global warming, is bad for the environment, and causes someone in Emery County to go without breakfast. Thanks solely to Milo........
After breakfast the Wolf family went on a nice four wheeler ride and Spike and I went back to Manti. It really was a fun outing, in spite of Milo, and a good time was had by all.

BOMBER JACKET OF THE WEEK
OUTDOORS WITH RANGER BOB
Fishing In Streams
"When fishing in creeks and small rivers I often stand downstream from the hole or pool where trout are known to hang out. Next, I loft a stick of dynamite upstream into the water. The resulting explosion will stun or kill the trout and I will be waiting for them with my net when they float downstream. I get the dynamite free from the Forest
Service and do not have to spend money on fishing gear. It is also fun to blow up beaver dams."

I remember the day. Mom was up on a ladder cleaning the wallpaper and I subtly kicked it out from under her. She was six months pregnant-- but you hung in there. You ruined my life. I tried to get rid of you when you were a baby-- then a little boy. I beat you, locked you in the cellar, left you in the forest behind the Temple Hill-- taught you to smoke-- made you drink vodka-- but Barbara came along and saved you. Damn! And now this. By making me the sponsor of your blog-- that means I am responsible for the debts that have accrued-- so I pay myself for my comments? AND I HAVE NOT OPENED AN ON-LINE BOUTIQUE SO STOP GIVING OUT MY E-MAIL ADDRESS! I HAVE BEEN BARRAGED THIS MORNING AND I CAN'T FILL out my own bras let alone MEET the demands from the internet. Have mercy, Voo.
I do like my photo-- and the idea that I will always be on the blog. There are a few adjustments I want to make. No more pictures of your beautiful family and Joanne's beautiful family. Let's concentrate on mine. And I would like to see more of Oil Can.
J. lowest of all
Good Morning Voo...
I had to read over and over J.Low's very last sentence... she is so fine! However, in reading your blog and looking at the exceptional sampling of pictures I noted one interesting fact... Wolf and Little "Two-Ovens" Martha posed for a very poetic picture shot... however, if you look at that picture closely you will find that it has been altered... Martha has a spatula in her hand.. and is not cooking.. plus, not only does she have two ovens that she cannot possibly use.. she is donning TWO pairs of sun glasses.. now you tell me how she plans on using two pairs of sun glasses at the same time.. Bogus picture... oh... and J. Low is sooooo HOT!!! she sent me a sample of her brassier designs... and they actually fit.. Hoppy came by and we modeled them and performed Elaine Bennis dance moves. Want picts?
Dear Oilcan-- those bras are not for you. They are designed for women 75 years old and older.
oh.. sorry.. I'll call Hoppy and have him return the ones he borrowed..
